![]() ![]() It also looks like they took the results of that experiment and used it to inform CoH 3 - seeking feedback early, building something packed with content on launch, and focusing on making an engaging single player and a fun multiplayer. CoH 2 sold 380,000 in the first 5 days () - and they supported it for 10 years. To put things into context, DOW 3 sold at most 600,000 copies at the 10 month point (including free weekend players). I think the money required for it to become exceptional would be much better spent working on CoH 3, a game with a more solid direction, than on fixing DOW 3. They made the right decision to abandon it, after 10 months. I think it was a fair experiment to run even if it didn't work out well. That may even be what inspired the highly saturated art style that's reminiscent of LoL. ![]() And its direction was largely set because they looked at the state of the RTS market and thought that it needed something that bridged the gap with MOBAs. I think they were experimental with DOW 3, the same way that DOW 1, 2 and CoH were all very different games. Just sucks that DoW3 had to be the martyr for the dev's to realize they effed up and make CoH3 good. I'm just hoping it continues and they don't abandon the project. ![]() I've played all Relic RTS games, this one is best one yet so far. I assume you have not played the recent test. Glad they are having positive feedback for CoH3 and are listening to the community, as they should. They took out key features that made DoW unique and physically abandoned it after 3-4 months, pivoting to Age of Empires. Dev's just did whatever they wanted and released a failed product and didn't support it when the community complained. Not sure if the same people are on the team, but seems maybe not. I'm glad they have made improvements, just sucks that the Dawn of War franchise had to be the test subject. It seems they've been very receptive to constructive feedback given from players so far. ![]() "Waiting for the devs to bail" is a terrible attitude to have. From what has been shown in the multiplayer alpha and multiplayer tech test they've made massive improvements all around. ![]()
